DEPARTMENT: Library
HOURS OF WORK: 35 per week – may include additional hours during nights and weekends as the needs of the position or library require.
SALARY: $1,522.06-$1,874.79 weekly (Non-Union L-7)
BASIC FUNCTION: This position is responsible for supporting the Director of Library in overseeing the daily operations of the library, including circulation, interlibrary loan, adult programming, collection management, and information services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Director in the operation of the library including the development of library policies, maintenance of patron accounts, responding to patron reference questions, circulation of books and materials, cataloging, technology updates, programs, and related services.
- Shares supervision of library staff and volunteers, including scheduling, supervision of the circulation desk, interlibrary loans, clerical staff, hiring, employee evaluations, and opening and closing the building as needed.
- Conducts orientation and training and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
- Supports the Director with financial and budget planning and management, including preparing payroll, hiring, scheduling, and maintaining staff operations.
- Maintains the Library website and social media presence; promote Library events to local organizations.
- Oversees Inter Library Loan operations including network issues, incomplete returns and out-of-new Inter Library Loans.
- Plans and schedules adult programs and performances with Director; seeks grant opportunities for programming and collaborates with other community organizations on programming.
- Supervises operations, maintenance, and programming in Maker Space and Tech Lab.
- Coordinates the Historical Collection, the Library of Things, and the Homebound delivery program.
- Oversees adult print collection management; selects adult fiction and non-fiction; tracks high demand items; monitors usage and circulation statistics; weeds adult print collections as needed.
- Responds to patron requests, suggestions, technical issues, and resolves service issues.
- Attends library workshops or seminars to maintain knowledge of new developments in library science and related services including technology.
- Monitors the Library building and grounds to ensure proper maintenance and recommends improvements and repairs.
- Fills in for the Director in the Director’s absence.
- Performs other related job duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master's of Library and Information Science.
- 5 years of related experience preferred.
Beneficial:
