RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Director in developing and implementing comprehensive public-facing communication.
- Creates, distributes, and promotes engaging information and communications related to City business and events. Engages with stakeholders to identify ideas and needs; identifies and targets materials to key audiences; disseminates information via a variety of methods; ensures consistent, professional, and engaging content; keeps management abreast of current and projected concerns of citizens.
- Develops and implements comprehensive social media plans for the City’s platforms.
- Maintains, updates and improves the City’s webpages and social media outlets to ensure they are current, easy to navigate, and contain accurate and detailed information.
- Maintains the public meetings and events calendar to stay in compliance with Open Meeting Law.
- Creates shareable graphics for social media flyers, postcards, and other materials.
- Assists with the creation and release of the City budget publication.
- Creates City newsletters.
- Performs other related job duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any equivalent combination of the below-listed education, training, certification, and experience is qualifying.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, political science, or related field
- 2 years of government, communications, public relations, or other related experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 years’ experience in government, communications, public relations, or other related experience
