RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Communicates with team lead regarding updates on rules and regulations.
- Assists in repairing broken meters.
- Patrols City and surveys for parking infractions.
- Scans license plates to ensure motorists have proper permits.
- Enforces and issues citations for parking infractions.
- Assesses parking conditions.
- Engages with the Public regarding parking infractions, parking conditions, and meter information.
- Coordinates the safe and responsible operation of a City vehicle.
- Responds to road and parking conditions when applicable.
- Attends meetings as necessary to continue to improve operations.
- Performs other related job duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any equivalent combination of the below-listed education, training, certification, and experience is qualifying.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of municipal or customer service-related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of parking enforcement principles; local ordinances and relevant state and federal laws; traffic laws; parking meter maintenance principles and power tool operation.
- Ability to carry out the essential functions of the position; learn, interpret and apply processes, codes, regulations, and laws governing vehicle parking; operate assigned equipment; resolve customer service problems in a positive manner; organize and prioritize work assignments to optimize service level; work as contributing member of a team, work productively and cooperatively with other teams and external customers, and convey a positive image of municipality; read and write in English language; calculate parking duration and associated fees quickly and accurately according to approved schedules using designated equipment and procedures; understand City laws regarding parking rules and regulations.
- Communication and customer service skills; computer and job-related software programs; organizing, technical trouble shooting and problem solving; interpersonal relations; and oral and written communication.

- Performs administrative work in an office environment; field work may involve exposure to conditions such as uneven terrain, confined spaces, sidewalks, traffic, pedestrians, hot or cold temperature extremes, and loud noises.
- When performing administrative functions, sits or stands, with intermittent periods of stooping and walking; when in the field, stands or walks for extended periods.
- Applies motor skills to move objects, use handheld radio, file, and sort documents, and use office equipment such as telephones, and computers.
- Routinely reads documents for general understanding and analytical purposes, including handwriting and forms; inspects surroundings and fine details to assess conditions of traffic and parking; and reviews detailed information displayed on a computer screen and handheld device.
